I have always been a curious guy. I remember vividly riding with my dad and asking him why some electric poles were crooked and some were straight and why a used car sells for a lot less that a new car?

The answers are obvious now, but at 10 or 11 they were a mystery. And after marrying my childhood sweetheart (53 yrs.), 3 children and their spouses and 11 grandchildren I still wonder about lots of things.

I am an amateur musician (piano) – hence – offbeats in the blog name. I am the oldest of 5 children, born in Northwest Louisiana and still living here. My family has been heavily involved in land and timer interests in Louisiana since 1923. I tried working for family for a while, but it was not meant to be, and settled on a career in real estate investments which Phyllis (wife) and I still do today.

Phyllis and I have always enjoyed humor in raising the kids, life and work. Even though our kids have been adults for many years with grown children, we still call each other when we see a funny billboard sign, advertisement or just hear something that makes us bend over laughing.

We have been members of a local Southern Baptist church since 1989 and for the most part are satisfied spiritually there. During that time, we have had 6 Pastors.

Our current friends are mostly people we first met in the 1970’s and 1980’s. We travel a good deal since our kids and grandkids are scattered, mostly by air but some by car, as our night driving abilities have diminished.

I will attempt to keep this blog lively, humorous and current.

I welcome feedback. Just keep it civil and to the point. There will also be some promotions from time to time – but not in excess.
